Brian Sanderson says this year&8217;s gala presents a unique opportunity for Gulf Coast residents and visitors to support WAMA, &8220;one of Mississippi&8217;s greatest treasures and a beacon for arts and culture for the past 20 years.&8221;

Brian Sanderson is a partner at the Gulf Coast office of Brunini, Grantham, Grower & Hewes, PLLC, and a former president of the Gulf Coast Business Council. Marie Sanderson, formerly Marie Thomas of Jackson, is director of federal policy for Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour.

WAMA will present an exclusive floral challenge at the gala and invites all local florists and garden clubs to participate by interpreting one of Walter Anderson&8217;s artworks.

Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, students, AAA members and military, $5 for ages 5-15 and museum members; ages 4 and younger are admitted free. Discounts are available for tour groups.

The museum is at 510 Washington Ave.,downtown Ocean Springs. Museum hours are 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday; and 12:30-4:30 p.m. Sunday.

Floral creations will be judged by authors of the &8220;Fearless Entertaining&8221; seribiloxi casinoses, Catherine Strange and John David Williams, and community leader Myrtis Franke. Deadline to register for the floral challenge is April 6.

The 2011 gala committee has launched a fundraising campaign to support WAMA&8217;s mission to serve the community as a center of learning and cultural enrichment.

OCEAN SPRINGS, Mississippi &8212; Walter Anderson Museum of Art announces its 21st annual gala, &8220;Fleurs de Vie,&8221; April 16 at the IP Casino Resort and Spa in Biloxi, Miss.

&8220;Walter Anderson&8217;s work was inspired by nature, and this year&8217;s theme allows the gala committee to honor the floral artists of our region.&8221;

Sponsorships are available from $500 to $10,000; WAMA is accepting silent auction items and artwork donations, and tickets to attend the Gala are $125 per person.

Walter Anderson Museum of Art opened in 1991 in historic Ocean Springs, Miss., and is dedicated to the celebration of the works of Walter Inglis Anderson (1903-65), whose depictions of the plants, animals and people of the Gulf Coast place him in the forefront of American painters of the 20th century; and to his brothers, Peter Anderson (1901-84), master potter and founder of Shearwater Pottery; and James McConnell Anderson (1907-98), painter and ceramist. The Museum celebrates its 20th Anniversary in 2011.
